METRO DX CLUB ANNUAL WINTERFEST BANQUET 2011 – January 21, 2011
In lieu of the regular January meeting, a group of the club’s membership along with their XYLs and YLs met on January 21st at the Ashford House restaurant on 159th Street in Tinley Park for the Metro DX Club Annual Winterfest Banquet.
The following were in attendance at the banquet: Bob Adamitis K9MDO and his XYL Karen WB9YBL; Dave Alm WG9J and his XYL JoAnn; John Holmes W9ILY; Bob Jacobson K9CJ; Mike McGirr K9AJ and his XYL Sue K9XYL; Jack Nienhaus W9NJB; Bob Truhlar W9LNQ and his XYL Dot N9ALC; Frank Gassmere K9BWQ and his XYL Delores; Phil Snyder N9LAH and his XYL Cindy; George Zielinski W9OA and his XYL Maryann; new members Dave Gracyzk W9HW and XYL Renae’ K9DO; Jim Mornar N9TK; Harry Hess K9MDK; Dennis Robinson KA9ZZT and Rick Cartell W9NKV.
We ordered off the menu and enjoyed our choice of a number of various entrees that everyone agreed were delicious.
After a brief introduction of all, Bob K9MDO and John W9ILY gave a short talk on DXpeditions. Many Metro DX members have been on DXpeditions as the DX station. The thrill of pile ups at the “other end” was noted. Other members, K9AJ and WG9J attested to the fun of DXpeditions. Next, we had a raffle for two calendars and coax jumpers. Outgoing president K9MDO installed the new club officers; Bob Jacobson K9CJ as President, Phil Snyder N9LAH as Vice President, and Rick Cartell W9NKV as Secretary/Treasurer.
As his first order of business, K9CJ announced we are looking for a new meeting place. He also thanked everybody for coming to the banquet and wished all a good new year.
