Metro DX Club December Meeting Minutes 12/18/20
The Metro DX Club’s December meeting was held on 12/18 via ZOOM. Thanks to John K9EL who arranged checking members in.
The meeting was called to order by Metro President Jim N9TK. Those attending besides Jim were:

NOVEMBER MINUTES Approved
TREASURER’S REPORT John W9ILY reports our Club had income of $314.26 which was 2021 dues received from members. The odd $ number was due to someone not using friends and family option when sending in dues on PayPal. The Club had no expenses for the month.
DUES Club dues of $15 for 2021 are being accepted and can be paid via Pay Pal w9ty@arrl.net or by check to the address on the Metro website. If using Pay Pal, use the friends and family option to avoid charges to the Club.
NEW MEMBERS We welcomed our two new members, KD9QYG and W0XXX.
WUST AWARD No activity.
KING OF THE HILL Our final round is the RAC Winter contest going on now. A member can win once per quarter. The end of year KING OF THE MOUNTAIN will be awarded to the member who has compiled the most points for the year. You can find your place in the standings on the Metro website.
CONTESTS Metro’s top 3 finishers in Field Day 2020 were K9ZO with 1833 QSOs, N9TK with 1048 QSOs K9CJ with 620 QSOs.
Our Metro team finished 44 of 65 teams in CQ WPX CW.
RAC Winter contest is going on now. It’s the final 2020 qualifying for King of the Hill. The King of he Mountain winner will be announced in January.RULE CHANGES FOR THE CQ WW WPX CONTESTS IN 2021 The 2021 CQ WW WPX RTTY, SSB and CW contests will include a new Multi-Transmitter Distributed category. Stations operating in this category may have a maximum of six transmitted signals, one per band at any one time, from stations in different locations. This may be fun for members to try next year.
DX MARATHON The deadline to enter is approaching. Entries must be received by January 5th. See dxmarathon.com for details.
NEW LOOK WEBSITE If you haven’t checked it out yet, take a look. Thanks to JohnW9ILY for all his hard work on this and keeping the site updated. Send your contest results, photos and other items of interest to John.
JANUARY MEETING Be sure to tune in next month. Patrick W9PDS will have an interesting presentation for us.
ROUND TABLE DISCUSSION Members took turns updating their recent activities. Many talked about their antenna work and entering upcoming contests. One of our new members, Tom W0XXX talked about his ham activities in Hong Kong and his friendship with James 9V1YC. This led to others on the ZOOM call talking about their friendship with James too.
One of our visitors was Fay N9FA who talked about her ham radio activity.
John K9EL recorded the entire ZOOM meeting so that those unable to attend can listen/watch it.
After some additional discussion, the meeting was adjourned.
