Metro DX Meeting February 18, 2011

The meeting was called to order by President Bob Jacobson, K9CJ at approximately 7:35 PM. He then led in the Pledge of Allegiance.  The minutes of the last meeting (November) were read by Webmaster, John Holmes, W9ILY, via the internet connection.  The Treasurerís report was read by Secretary/Treasurer Rick Cartell, W9NKV and all reports were approved.

We began the meeting with a brief introduction by Bob, K9CJ, and his experiences with RF and electronics design.  He then proposed new technical topics such as oscillators and phased verticals to be discussed at future meetings.  Those present showed enthusiasm for such topics

Also, in new business, K9CJ would like to establish a new club award.  The WAUST (worked all United States Territories) will be given to members and non-members that can confirm all US territories with no date restriction.  The concept of the award was warmly welcomed and approved by members present.  The club is asking for assistance in designing the new award.

K9CJ is also seeking a new meeting place for the Metro DX regular meetings.  This is a challenge for all members to give any assistance necessary in locating a new location.

John, W9ILY, gave a report on contesting and various results.  He commented that contest participation in our club is on the increase.

Finally, former president Bob Adamitis, K9MDO, thanked all those who attended Winterfest 2011.

With the business portion of the meeting completed, all who attended enjoyed eating Beggars great food.  While eating we watched various You Tube videos related to Amateur Radio.

The members present were NV9X, N9ALC, N9AKR, W9LNQ, K9PY, K9MDO, W9ILY, W9NJB, K9CJ, and W9NKV.

Respectfully submitted by Rick Cartell, W9NKV, Secretary/Treasurer
