Here's a summary of our operation:

We operated Special Event station W9C from October 31, 2016 through November 6, 2016 commemorating great American icon Walter Cronkite’s 100th birth date. At least nine stations operated from their home QTH locations including AI9L, WA9LEY, NV9X, W9ILY, K9EL, K9CJ, NV9L, WD9HSY and K9GA. On Saturday, 17 Metro members met at the QTH of NV9L/WB9Z in Crescent City and put HUNDREDS of contacts in the W9C log. Attending were K9DRS, K9LOT, K9LSH, K9NU, K9PY, K9TP, K9ZAV, KA9BBQ, KA9ZZT, N9IHZ, N9LAH and XYL Cindy, N9TK, N9VVO, NV9L, W9ILY, WA9LEY and WB9Z. The Club provided lunch, snacks and drinks for the group courtesy of N9TK who did all the shopping. Several club members had not previously had the opportunity to operate in a “pileup” situation and they gained a lot of great experience. Jerry gave the club a tour of his super station and antenna farm that was very impressive. Val, NV9L, who is one of the presenters on Ham Nation https://twit.tv/shows/ham-nation , had highlighted special event activity, in particular the W9C activity, on her weekly broadcast and set up a live feed on Facebook with a link from QRZ.COM so the world could see our operation in action. There were hundreds of views to the Facebook feed and over 3,700 QRZ.COM lookups! A total of nine stations operating from their home QTH made a total of 1,933 contacts on CW, SSB, RTTY, PSK31, PSK63, PSK125 and FM.

Remembering Walter Cronkite as described by Wikipedia:

Walter Leland Cronkite, Jr. (November 4, 1916 – July 17, 2009) was an American broadcast journalist, best known as anchorman for the CBS Evening News for 19 years (1962–81). During the heyday of CBS News in the 1960s and 1970s, he was often cited as "the most trusted man in America" after being so named in an opinion poll. He reported many events from 1937 to 1981, including bombings in World War II; the Nuremberg trials; combat in the Vietnam War; the Dawson's Field hijackings; Watergate; the Iran Hostage Crisis; and the assassinations of President John F. Kennedy, civil rights pioneer Martin Luther King, Jr., and Beatles musician John Lennon. He was also known for his extensive coverage of the U.S. space program, from Project Mercury to the Moon landings to the Space Shuttle. He was the only non-NASA recipient of a Moon-rock award. Cronkite is well known for his departing catchphrase "And that's the way it is," followed by the broadcast's date.
