Health and Welfare: Thomas N9IHZ reported he was grateful to be back to virtually normal following his severe health issues.

DXer N9NS from Indianapolis passed away April 11th.

Dot N9ALC has been rotating her home with family members in the area.

The MINUTES as distributed of the previous meeting were moved approved by K9CJ and seconded by K9PY.

The TREASURERS REPORT was distributed by John, W9ILY. The amount of $427.42 is available for donations. Income of $190.40 was from dues, split the pot, K9ILX estate sales and WUST awards. Expenses of $234.98 were incurred for postage, donations and the web site.

A motion to approve the treasurer’s report was made and seconded.

WUST awards: A missing award was replaced for VK2HV.

The Kingman Reef deletion affected the certificate and those having it previously conformed will be noted as “The Sweet Sixteen Award”.

The EOC antenna is still on hold pending an antenna decision.  An Antenna without radials is required. The Village will be presenting the recommendations at an upcoming committee meeting.

K9ILX Estate: Several items were sold with Metro acquiring $192.00. Purchasing a memorial brick at ARRL is under consideration.  Besides selling on the web, the DeKalb Hamfest May 1st. was mentioned as a location to display the equipment.

The NEXT MEETING will be May 27th due to a date conflict with Dayton. The suggestion to change the date was moved by N9ORD and seconded by K9CJ.

K9CJ reported the SDR Radio project is awaiting parts to be delivered for a demonstration at the next meeting.

The Field Day report was given. The Tinley Park Mental Health Center will be used as last year with use of the trailer and generator. A discussion of equipment was mentioned as well as not violating any ethics donations for the EOC for Field Day. K9CJ will check with Pat Carr of the EOC. A nice addition to Field Day might be a Flex 6500 with Maestro remote. N9IHZ volunteered to bring his FT-991.

In answer to a question concerning the path of the club, YES we are a DX Club that takes advantage of contests to improve upon our operating skills and gain additional DX contacts.

NIDXA has a Skype group that we discussed joining. This will alert us to new DX activity. A discussion of NIDXA and membership requirements occurred.

The International Vacuum Tube Museum is looking for donations.

Honorary membership was discussed. Candidates were suggested and approved with a motion by KA9BBQ and seconded by KA9ZZT.

The Metro Annual Picnic is scheduled for August 6th at the QTH of N9LAH. It was suggested that K9TP again be the chairman.

An invitation to a joint picnic with NIDXA at the home of Kermit, W9XA, in Batavia has been offered for August 13th.

General Discussion:

The September meeting will be rescheduled so as not to conflict with W9DXCC.

A DXPEDITION Timeline was distributed as featured in DXWORLD.net and brought to the clubs attention by N9LAH.

There was a discussion regarding “sharing” Facebook pages with the Grundy County Amateur Radio Club. When their page is constructed we can “like” their page, not “share” it with ours.

If at Dayton, try get together with other Metro DX Club members.

Future antenna considerations for Dave AE9IS were discussed.

Following a motion to adjourn by KA9BBQ and seconded by N9ORD, the meeting was called to a CLOSE at 20:28.

Following a short break, several video were presented including Christmas Island and VK2GGC working 2015 CW WW.

Respectfully submitted:

John Raiger K9DRS
