METRO DX CLUB MEETING MINUTES - MAY 16, 2008

Tonight’s meeting was held at the Midlothian Civic Center, our new permanent location.  The meeting was called to order by President Bob Adamitis K9MDO at 7:30 PM .  The minutes of the last meeting were dispensensed with as they were previously provided to the membership by e-mail.  A number of members are attending the Dayton Hamfest this weekend.

John Holmes W9ILY advised there was not much contest action with the exception of the South American contest this weekend and the WPX CW contest for next weekend.

Under old business, the changes in the By Laws could not be voted upon by the members as a quorum was not present this evening.

The Second Annual Club Picnic was discussed and K9MDO advised that Jess AI9L and Patti AF9H were agreeable to again holding it at their home in Braceville.  The members present agreed that this should be a pot luck picnic with various members advising in advance what they would provide so there would be a good selection of food and drink.  A possible date for the affair is still to be decided.

H&W:  Gene Marcheschi, N9MUX, the son of member Bob Marcheschi WF9V, passed away and K9MDO, W9ILY and W9NJB attended the wake in Blue Island today to pay their respects and represent the club.  Roger Borowski K9RB is recovering from his lower leg amputation and will return home from rehab on May 23rd.  We hope that the health of Dot Truhlar - N9ALC will continue to improve.

Field Day Chairman Bob Jacobson K9CJ distributed a list of items needed for the exercise with the names of the people expected to provide them.  Dennis Robinson KA9ZZT will again provide the masts and wires for the antenna and bring them to the location about 6:00 PM on Friday.  Members should arrive about the same time to commence erecting the antennae.  The remainder of the evening was spent in a general discussion of Field Day operations.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:37 PM .

Members present this evening were: KA9ZZT, W9ILY, W9NJB, K9MDO, K9PY, and K9CJ.

Respectfully submitted by Jack Nienhaus, Secretary/Treasurer
