METRO DX CLUB MEETING  MINUTES June 19, 2009

The meeting was called to order at 7:31 PM by President Bob Adamitis, K9MDO.  He then led the members in the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.  The minutes of the last meeting and the financial report were read by Jack Nienhaus, W9NJB, Secretary/Treasurer.  They were approved by the members.

V.P. John Holmes, W9ILY reporting on DX and club contesting stated there was nothing unusual about DX except on 6 meters which has come to life while the lower bands were essentially quiet.  In the  2008  ARRL 10 meter contest Metro  finished #7.  In the  2009 January VHF Sweepstakes Metro came out #8.  W9ILY and N9LAH worked the  2009  RTTY Roundup  and finished #8 in the USA, low power.  W9ILY reported that present IRC’s will expire on December 31st so you had better get yours redeemed at the post office now.

H&W:  Jack W9NJB was in the hospital  from June 3rd to June 6th after a mild heart attack.  Bob K9MDO will be visiting Roger in FL July 7th to 14th.

Bob K9MDO advised that Field Day operations are on hold at the present time.  He and W9ILY visited the Oak Forest hospital to check on the FD site and verify that we had permission to operate FD there.  The security officer at the gate had no record of our being given permission that W9NJB received orally several months ago.  Bob called and talked to  the hospital official  who said he would have the Administration Office call.  After several attempts there were no calls forthcoming.  Additionally, Jack W9NJB received word from his nephew that he had sold the motor home.  There is a small park near Phil’s, N9LAH, home in Chebanse that he will check  for availability.  K9CJ advised that he could not obtain permission to operate near 183rd and Harlem .

The Special Event Station will operate on October 3, 2009 with the special call W9M.  Details will come later.

The picnic will take place on August 15th at Pat and Jess Colvin's QTH in Braceville.

Refreshments this evening were provided by Dennis, KA9ZZT and will be provided next month by Jerry, K9PY.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:10 PM .

Members present were: AI9L, AF9H, N9ALC, W9LNQ, WG9J, N9AKR, K9PY, K9MDO, W9NJB, W9ILY, N9LAH, W9NKV, KA9ZZT, K9CJ, W9PDS, K9BWQ & XYL Delores.  Total 17.

The program was interesting DVD of a DXpedition/CQWW CW contest station  “XT2DX at Burkina Faso " .

Respectfully submitted by Jack Nienhaus, Secretary/Treasurer
